The flavor and fragrance
industry came of Grasse in southern France in 1500s. 1799,
Mr. Jean Joseph Hugues established a flavor and fragrance
company. Then, in about 1860, the grandson of Mr. Hugues
invented the direct steam distillation technology. Thereafter,
Mr. Eugune Charabot, an outstanding chemist and inventor
of many specialties, cooperated with the Hugues family
and named the flavor and fragrance company with Charabot
in 1917.
